Annual Report Senior Skin Group 2017
In spite of the year 2016/17 not showing much activity by the SSG, it is heartening to see that there in increasing interest in the problems affecting aged and ageing skin with the UK DCTN focus this year being on Skin Health for Older People. Research is urgently needed and we hope that this initiative will be a great success and propel the issue to the forefront of dermatology. The SSG is very grateful for support from the BAD and looks forward to the anticipated further help with membership administration.
In prospect this year, our meeting on Tuesday 4th July will be on the “hot topic” of managing skin cancers in the frail elderly. Louise Fearfield is well known as an expert in this field and a very gifted communicator so we are very happy that she will be leading the session. Come early! Hall 12 at 13.00. There will be some light refreshments in case you miss lunch and an opportunity to discuss the future direction of the SSG.
Trainees and other health professionals (excluding consultants – sorry) are welcome to enter our essay competition for which we will have details available in July. There will be a generous cash prize and possibility of publication in a journal depending on the quality of the entries. The art of essay writing is not much practised these days but provides an opportunity to express opinion and display knowledge and ideas in a less rigid structure than a formal paper.
